Our assessments are undertaken at our offices at 194 Gladstone Road, South Melbourne. We can also complete some parts of your assessment on Telehealth.
Who will be at the assessment for my child ?
Your assessment will be completed by one of our skilled clinicians attended by you and the child we are assessing.
Who will be at my adult ADHD assessment?
Your assessment will be completed by one of our skilled clinicians, you are welcome to bring a support person on the day if this will help you relax.
What is the process of our ADHD assessments?
Your clinician will ask you to answer a series of standardised questions, sometimes on an iPad/desk top computer, sometimes using pen and paper.
We produce an easy-to-read report. When your report is ready, you and your psychologist will meet to provide you with feedback, discuss the report and answer your questions.
What is the training of the Psychologists performing the assessments?
The clinician performing your assessments are registered with the National Psychology Board. They complete training on how to administer, score and interpret the assessments you will undertake.
At Boutique Psychology we undertake many of these assessments and the report you receive at the end of the assessment can be used to develop a better understanding of your needs, support your NDIS application if appropriate, support you to find the language to seek medication support (via a referral from your treating GP to a Psychiatrist or your child’s treating paediatrician.
Does Boutique Psychology understand ADHD?
Many of our team identify as Neurodiverse, this gives us insights into the challenges that people with ADHD experience on a daily basis. We offer empathetic and skilful ADHD Assessments for clients who identify as neurodiverse. We understand everyone’s lived experience of ADHD is different and we treat everybody as valued and unique.
How many appointments are involved?
ADHD assessments can be performed in two sessions, one in person and one on telehealth. However we may adjust the assessment to the needs of the person.
How long will it take?
ADHD assessment sessions can take up to two hours. However we may adjust the assessment to the needs of the person. Preparing the report is part of the process of the assessment and is done by your Psychologist.
How do I prepare for my/my child’s ADHD assessment?
The assessment process involves questions relating to early development and behaviours that yourself, and your close friends/family have noticed.
It may be beneficial to review your “Baby Book” or consult with family who knew you when you were younger and may have some insight into early developmental milestones, social behaviour, and academic performance.
Boutique Psychology will send you some forms which need to be completed prior to your first appointment.
What can I expect at the ADHD assessment appointment?
Please ensure that you are ready 10 minutes prior to your first appointment. The first appointment will be a 2 hour conversation where the clinician will ask questions around your personal situation, your symptoms and challenges as well as familial and developmental history, you will be asked to complete several standardised tests which help confirm if you meet the criteria for ADHD.
By understanding your current experience is assists us to develop targeted strategies to support you post assessment and moving forward.
We do this in a safe, relaxed and confidential environment.
At the conclusion of your appointment, the clinician is likely to confirm your next appointment with us.
How do I pay for the assessment?
The full cost of an ADHD assessment with a clinician is $1,150. That involves 2 hours of assessments with the practitioner in the clinic , up to 1 hour feedback session by telehealth. If the clincan believes that further assessment may be right for you to assist you to meet your individual goals or develop a better understanding of yourself they will recommend that .
they will discuss that with you, and you will have the option to upgrade to the comprehensive assessment, which covers a range of mental health conditions.
This service is not currently eligible for a Medicare rebate.
We will bill you after each session, so it is important that funds are available in your nominated account after sessions. You will pay $400 at the time of your first appointment, and then $750 at the feedback appointment.
What are the policies once I have made the appointment?
Your appointment is dedicated to you.
If you cancel with less than 48 hours or 2 business days notice, we will charge you the full appointment fee and this will be added to the total amount of your Assessment cost.
Please be certain you would like the appointment before booking. We are a low cost, high-quality service and individuals not attending impacts on the services we are able to give to the community. Thank you for understanding.
