Successful FCA Assessments in Mildura – A Transformative Regional Initiative

In July 2025, the Directors of Boutique Psychology travelled to Mildura to complete a series of Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs) for individuals with disability and complex support needs. The visit formed part of our commitment to regional access and equity in psychological assessment, ensuring that people in rural Victoria receive the same quality of clinical care and advocacy as their metropolitan counterparts.

The impact was immediate. Individuals and their families shared how much clarity the assessments provided around NDIS planning, school supports, and day-to-day life challenges. Providers told us they finally had documentation they could use to justify higher support needs and funding requests. Many participants had gone without updated assessments for years—leaving their plans underfunded and their goals out of reach.

The Functional Capacity Assessments completed during our Mildura visit were comprehensive, tailored, and deeply respectful of each participant’s lived experience. Our team worked closely with caregivers, and allied health supports develop an understanding of what each individual needed.

We are incredibly proud of the outcomes achieved during this trip and feel privileged to contribute to the ongoing care of the Mildura community. The success of these assessments has informed our decision to return in 2026, with a renewed focus on reaching even more individuals in need.
